About Me:
I am a qualified social worker with practicum experience. I completed my placement at the Aragonese Institute for Social Work in Zaragoza, Spain. I have also worked in the voluntary sector as a youth community worker in a variety of community centres, primarily in projects addressing social exclusion in Zaragoza and Barcelona. These experiences expanded my knowledge of community cohesion and development.
I have also considerable experience in the areas of public health, social determinants of health and participatory research methodologies, in particular in the areas of cancer studies and women’s health. I constantly engage in public debates on breast cancer and I am a member of the Breast Cancer Consortium Advisory Board and the Spanish Network of Women Health Workers (Redcaps).
Over the last four years I have gained extensive experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the UK and Spain in the areas of health and development, global health, gender and sexuality.
I have also more than four years of experience in project management in the non-profit sector, with a strong focus on the empowerment and grassroots activism of women and girls. My work with the VDay initiative included project coordination and monitoring, planning, providing training workshops and local community involvement activities.
