About Me:
I received a master’s in Latin American Studies with a concentration in Environmental Studies from Florida International University. Since 2005, I have been in the doctoral program in ecological and environmental anthropology at the University of Georgia. Generally, I am interested in anthropological perspectives on sustainability science, conservation, development, and natural resource management in the neotropics and coastal areas of Latin America. I plan to do my dissertation research in coastal Ecuador, where urbanization and shrimp farming are among the major agents of change in livelihoods, social relations, and local environments. Other areas of interest include maritime and coastal anthropology, political ecology, anthropology of development, economic anthropology, migration, conservation, and community-based natural resource management.
