About Me:
Born and raised on the prairies of Nebraska, I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I earned BA and MA degrees. After graduating, I taught anthropology and other courses (The Study of the Future; Magic, Science & Religion; and Social Issues) at Des Moines Area Community College. During a 3-month backpacking and hiking trip to Alaska and the Canadian Rockies I developed a new sense of direction and met my life partner, Ron. We relocated to Gainesville, FL, where I earned a PhD in cultural anthropolgy focused on organizational theory and organizational linkages in complex science and technological programs. Since that time I have worked in Federal technology transfer programs as a university-based researcher and currently as an independent consultant. Today, I work with tech entrepreneurs, business incubators, and technology commercialization programs in university and Federal government settings. Most of my clients are universities (licensing offices and state-wide consortia), Federal laboratories, faculty scientist inventors, investor groups, and organizations putting together innovation economy programs.
