About Me:
Deborah Caro is a social development and reproductive health specialist with 22 years of strong technical leadership for USAID, NGOs, and World Bank programs in the areas of family planning and reproductive health (maternal health, FP/RSH and HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence), mainstreaming gender considerations into development policy, monitoring and evaluation, rural development, environment, economic growth, service delivery and research. Fifteen years of progressive senior project leadership and management experience with a worldwide focus on health and gender issues. Served as team leader for two major worldwide safe motherhood programs, Averting Death and Disability (AMDD) and the Initiative for Maternal Mortality Program Assessment (IMMPACT). More than 26 years field experience in Latin America, including 8 years long-term residence in Bolivia and Peru, involving extended technical assistance in rural communities and FP/RH and gender-based violence program development and monitoring. Cited by USAID/Bolivia and the USAID Office of Women in Development for strategic leadership and team building skills. Acknowledged for collaborative program planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation with donors, host-country government officials, NGOs, and community groups in Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador.
