About Me:
I´m a Mexican anthropologist interested in understanding the differential way in which men and women relate with their environment, especially in situations of social inequality and environmental vulnerability. I work at El Colegio de la Frontera Sur, a research center in southeastern Mexico. I have worked in mountainous and coastal ecosystems, as well as in the rain forest of Mexico. My research with women from the highlands of Chiapas was focused on the process of emergency care during childbirth. In Calakmul, Campeche, I studied the colonization of the rainforest. In recent years I´ve been working on the coast of Mexico, analyzing women's response to hurricanes and floods.
