About Me:
J.A.English‑Lueck is a Professor of Anthropology at San Jose State University and an active Research Affiliate at the Institute for the Future. Dr. English‑Lueck has a doctorate from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she studied social change and community life among alternative health practitioners, resulting in /Health in the New Age: a Study in California Holistic Practices (1990). In addition to a book on Chinese scientists and technologists, Chinese Intellectuals on the World Frontier, and editing a textbook on globalization, Emerging Global Cultures, she has written one book on life in Silicon Valley, Cultures@SiliconValley, and co-authored another, Busier than Ever! Why American Families can’t Slow Down, with Chuck Darrah and James Freeman. She is currently working on a book on health and work in Silicon Valley.
