About Me:
I received my Ph.D. in cultural anthropology from the University of Oklahoma in July 2010 and I currently hold the position of Research Scientist at the OU Center for Applied Social Research in Norman, OK. I've had the fortunate opportunity to maintain an ongoing, applied medical anthropology research program for nearly ten years alongside my primary research on issues of religion and cultural production. The applied portions of my research focus broadly on minority health disparities, and particularly on issues of chronic disease, cancer control, research ethics and health policy, and community partnerships in health research. It is in these areas of applied work that I am currently pursuing issues of public health policy, tribal governance and issues of health sovereignty in indigenous communities.
