About Me:
After 15 years traipsing through Scotland, Japan, Korea, Oregon and Hawaii, I am back again on my home turf of Chicago, Illinois where I am writing my dissertation and working for the University of Chicago's school of continuing studies. I conducted my dissertation fieldwork in rural Japan and studied elderly people's lifestyle beliefs and practices for a healthy longevity. Since Japan has the longest-living population in the world, they may be able to give us some insights! But with a graying population comes fear of economic burdens as well as fear of aging itself, and this can lead to stereotypes and prejudice. I am interested in seeing how these patterns unfold as the world faces an unprecedented graying population.
