About Me:
co-founded intentional yoga community, Yogaville, first in NYC, then Pomfret Ctr, CT, and now in Buckingham, VA. Raised two children as a single mother; got my Ph.D. in anthropology after working in complementary medicine, videography, and yoga health education. Went to UVa, where I enjoyed working with Edie Turner, Susan McKinnon, Richard Handler, Roy Wagner, Ellen Contini-Morava. William Stokoe was my Deaf Studies advisor until his death. Spent a year in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway on a Fulbright. Came to the West Coast to Berkeley for postdoc fellowships, and now work at UCSF in the Institute for Health and Aging.
