About Me:
I am a German Phd candidate at the University Research Priority Program »Asia and Europe«, University of Zurich, Switzerland. I studied social anthropology, sociology and Latin American studies at Freie Universität Berlin and Melbourne University. Keywords that describe my research interests are visual and media anthropology, queer and gender studies, anthropology of emotions, anthropology of the senses, Southeast Asian cinema, popular culture, anthropology of art and cultural globalisation. Parallel to my work at university I am producing my own films and hold several jobs for both film festivals and film productions. Since 2007 I am the director and head of the Southeast Asia section as well as the Queer Asia section of ASIAN HOT SHOTS BERLIN, the biggest festival for Asian independent film and video art in Berlin, Germany.
