About Me:
I am a scholar, a teacher, and a dancer. I live on Vancouver Island, where I teach anthropology at Malaspina University-College. I also teach and perform Middle Eastern dance, translating traditional forms for North American audiences and students. I recently began weaving together divergent strands in my life, by undertaking ethnographic research in North American bellydance communities. My previous work has been located in Canadian museums, adult and community education, and nearby Arab communities.
