About Me:
I hold a Ph.D. in Sustainable Agriculture from Department of Anthropology at Iowa State University. My research interests include; Eco-cultural dimension of African rural livelihoods systems; Food security; poverty research in developing countries; Participatory research and methodology development. Currently I am a postdoctoral fellow with the Earth Institute at Columbia University, New York. I am also involved in the Millennium Village Project as the coordinator of the Community Participation, Capacity Building and Governance sector. The concept of Millennium Villages™ was pioneered by the Earth Institute, which is designed to demonstrate – in real time—what it takes to meet the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDG’s). The core idea of Millennium Villages is that impoverished villagers will escape from extreme poverty and sustain their rural livelihoods if they are empowered with proved and powerful technologies to improve their farm productivity, health, education, and access to markets.
