About Me:
I am a linguistic anthropologist finishing my PhD with Temple University and writing my dissertation. I also teach online through Temple but live near Denver. My research was with a fair-trade organization in Lima, Peru, and I explore power relationships, fair-trade implementation's strengths and weaknesses, translation in client-artisan and tourist-artisan encounters, handicraft traditions and product-development discourses. My career goal is to work as a non-profit consultant to conduct ethnographic research to make change in organizations concerned with social and environmental issues, and ethical consumerism. I volunteer at the National Park Service on projects related to TEK. I feel that an industry that holds incredible potential for positive change is the food industry.
