About Me:
My mom is from Honduras and my dad is American. They met while my dad was serving in the Peace Corps in Honduras. Every summer my mom would take us to Honduras for 3 months of summer vacation. I learned to speak Spanish first and then my mother taught my brother and I how to read and write in Spanish. I would translate between my Honduran mother and American grandmother.I believe that me being bicultural, having an inside look in both worIds and my parents constant teaching of appreciating various peoples and cultures lead me down the anthropology path. I am currently working for a non-profit organization called THINK Together, we provide at risk youth with after-school activities. I plan on obtaining my MA in Applied Anthropology form either Cal State San Jose or Long Beach. My area of interest is Latino Immigration and Bi-Cultural Marriages and Children. I am getting married next year and my future husband and I plan to attend the Peace Corps after we marry.
