About Me:
I am an environmental anthropologist with a focus on social and political factors that shape the access to, benefits from, and control of natural resources. My research emerges from theories political ecology, common resource management and social capital literatures. My MA research focused on the coping strategies (both political and behavioral) employed by agriculturalists in Andean Bolivia who were living in highly contaminated regions next to mining operations. Broadly, my doctoral research focuses on factors that account for rural population's access to irrigation water in the highlands of southern Peru. In the context of State-level changes to laws regarding water management and access, I am studying how this new law is causing social realignment within communities, and thus changing people's access to irrigation water.
