About Me:
Jeffrey Greger is a User Experience Researcher at Varo Money, an online banking startup in San Francisco. He conducts qualitative research to understand how people think about and manage their money. Based on this research, he works closely with design and product teams to improve the banking experience, particularly for people living paycheck to paycheck.
Before moving into research, Jeff spent close to a decade sketching, sculpting, and building everything from Bluetooth speakers to medical devices as an industrial and UX designer with a handful of design consultancies. Jeff began his research career as a member of FAIR Money, a pro bono collective of ethnographers studying the financial lives of people being squeezed by Silicon Valley's high cost of living.
As a graduate student, he explored the challenges, opportunities, and ethical issues FAIR Money members and other design professionals encounter when they develop financial services with low-income communities in the Bay and around the world. Jeff received an M.A. in Applied Anthropology from SJSU in 2019.
