About Me:
Yunjia Zhang is a Ph.D. student at La Trobe University in the Department of Anthropology working with resettlement in China's Three Gorges region, tourism development, and rural development in China. Following her B.S. in Government and International Relations from the University of Sydney, in 2021, Yunjia earned an M.S. from La Trobe University studying Development. Her doctoral work broadly examines rural changes in China, with interests in rural tourism-related development, and changing rural life and environment. Her ongoing research investigates rural changes in the context of China’s rural revitalisation through its rural tourism strategy and analyse its impact on rural community, environment, and representations. From the lens of landscape, infrastructure and encounter in rural tourism, this research explores and discusses the transforming and multifaceted rurality produced by the state, the local people, tourists, the tourism capitals and other actors.
