About Me:
I work on issues of sustainable agriculture, sustainable communities, local water resources, women and agriculture, human rights and related topics. I have retired from The City University of New York where I was a Professor. I have started a small not-for-profit dedicated to raising funds for NGOs working with local small and marginal farmers as well as landless women's self help groups. This is based primarily in South India. I just completed a small research study of seven NGOs in the four southern states with the major field work being done by energetic and interested Indian students from the state in which she/he worked.
I am interested in the whole question of alternative agriculture in relations to surviving the 21st century and global warming.
I am looking for colleagues to network with and discuss these and related topics as well as ways to raise funds for my organization The second Chance Fd.
I am somewhat isolated being in New York and would welcome interaction with other anthropologists interested in agriculture.
My website is still under construction.
