About Me:
I am an applied anthropology graduate student at Purdue, studying under Dr. Sherylyn Briller. My research is focused on understanding practitioner experience, especially as it relates to their training and connections/relationship to the discipline. My goal is to use practitioner feedback to understand how applied anthropology education can improve and how it can provide students, faculty, and practitioners with better connection to and collaboration with one another. As a student, I've also worked on two community-based research projects, one which addressed the branding and communication challenges of the city website and social media, and one which proposed a framework for implementing a public engagement strategy for increasing resident participation on city renovations.
I currently work for a medical device company as a training and development manager. There, I am responsible for developing the training program for new employees and conducting the training of employees on standard processes and procedures. I'm also currently working as part of a SfAA Working group to understand how the SfAA Annual Meeting and organization, as a whole, can innovate in the wake of COVID and provide more options for its members to connect and participate. After graduation, I hope to navigate to a career in practice possibly in market research, community-based research, or consulting, but would love to stay connected to the important work that needs to be done within the discipline of bringing academia and practice together.
