About Me:
I'm an applied anthropologist, evaluator, and performance measurement specialist with expertise in long-term and rapid ethnography, formative and summative evaluation, output and outcome assessment, strategic planning, systems development, and social marketing. I enjoy blending technical and cultural competencies in the development of customized performance measurement and management frameworks that help organizations identify, collect, and make operational and strategic use of information and data to satisfy traditional and emerging needs. Before getting married I lived and worked in a monastic setting for nearly 8 years and gained an appreciation for collaboration and the collective stewardship of resources from a tradition that provided the blueprint for sustainable, entrepreneurial, and inter-independent development.
With a background in cultural and linguistic anthropology, evaluation, comparative and international education, and monastic stewardship, I'm proficient at assessing and strengthening the cultural and technical appropriateness of service delivery and supporting continuous-improvement efforts for purposes of reducing risk, increasing the likelihood of success, and managing finite resources.
I've provided technical assistance to hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals in urban and rural settings in Argentina, Colombia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, and the USA. I'm fluent in Spanish and familiar with Portuguese and Guaraní.

Steve
I'm looking for more contracts with work to start next fall. Please let me know if you hear of anything interesting that could use program evaluation, or research (qualitative or quantitative or computer mapping) expertise -- maybe in NOLA?
Warm Regards,
Steve
